To find the Basement code in Search for the Needle, flip the papers scattered on the puzzle-room floor until you find one with a number, then enter that number on the puzzle keypad. The paper gives you the answer you need to finish this part of the room.
Find the paper with the number
Click a paper on the floor to turn it over and check for a code. If it has no number, move on to another paper. Keep opening the remaining sheets until you uncover the clue; finding several papers without a code is a reason to continue checking.
The “find the needle in the haystack” wording can send you looking for another needle. For this puzzle, focus on the papers in the room. You are looking for the sheet with the number, so you do not need to return to clearing hay to solve this clue.
Once you find the numbered paper, read the complete number before heading back to the keypad. Keep the digits in the order they appear.
Enter the number from your clue
Use the keypad to enter the number you just found. If you have a number from a walkthrough open beside you, compare it with your own paper before entering it—the clue in your room is the one to follow.
If the input does not solve the puzzle, return to the paper and compare each digit with what you entered. Check for a misread number or digits entered in the wrong order before trying again.
