Search for the Needle Classes: Every Bonus and How to Get Them
You start Search for the Needle with Starter, and you can roll for another class at the lobby's Classes station for 40 Gems. There are eight options, with bonuses for carrying hay, selling it, using specific tools or collecting Diamonds.
The useful bonus depends on what you are doing. Extra bag space helps when you keep filling your bag, while a Pitchfork or Dynamite bonus matters once you are using that tool.
All Search for the Needle classes
| Class | Roll chance | Main benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 40% | Default class with no bonus |
| Pack Mule | 25% | More hay in every bag |
| Hay Merchant | 14% | More money when you sell hay |
| Forkmaster | 9% | Stronger Pitchfork swings and cheaper upgrades |
| Demolitionist | 7% | Larger Dynamite blasts and possible extra charges |
| Prospector | 3.9% | More Diamonds while collecting hay |
| Drone Specialist | 1% | A Drone with faster flight and more carrying capacity |
| Ultimate Farmer | 0.1% | Every other class bonus and occasional Golden Harvest |
Starter
Starter is your default class and provides no passive bonus. You can begin collecting hay with it straight away, but it gives you no extra carrying space, selling value or tool benefit.
Pack Mule
Pack Mule lets every bag carry 50% more hay. You can bring a larger load back to the cow on each trip, which is especially useful while you collect manually and regularly stop because your bag is full.
Hay Merchant
Hay Merchant gives you 20% more money when you sell hay. That extra cash goes toward tools and upgrades, so the bonus helps when money is holding up your next purchase. It increases the value of a sale; it does not add more hay to each collection action.
Forkmaster
Forkmaster makes each Pitchfork swing collect 25% more hay and cuts Pitchfork upgrade costs by 25%. Once the Pitchfork is part of your run, you remove more hay with each swing and spend less on improving that same tool.
Demolitionist
Demolitionist increases Dynamite's blast radius by 20%. Explosions also have a 10% chance to split the TNT into three mini charges. Use Dynamite to benefit from the larger blast area, with the extra charges providing an occasional further burst.
Prospector
With Prospector, Diamonds appear 50% more frequently while you collect hay, and hay can also transform into Diamonds. It suits a run where you want extra resources from your collection. The transformation is a chance effect, so each piece of hay is not a guaranteed Diamond.
Drone Specialist
Drone Specialist gives you a Drone while you use the class, without buying one first. The Drone flies 30% faster, carries 40% more hay, and can occasionally gain a three-Drone work swarm. Those modifiers improve the Drone's movement and load. The Drone Specialist guide explains how to use its collection help and upgrades.
Ultimate Farmer
Ultimate Farmer combines every other class's bonuses. Your carrying, selling and tool use can all benefit as you move through a run, and Golden Harvest can activate occasionally. Its 0.1% roll chance makes it the rarest result in this list.
How to get classes
- Return to the lobby and open the Classes station.
- Look through the class cards and their bonuses before spending Gems.
- Select Spin Class. A normal spin costs 40 Gems and gives a random class result.
- Check what you received before paying for another spin. A rarer class is not guaranteed.

Open the Classes station in the lobby and select Spin Class for a normal 40-Gem roll.
Open the Classes menu to inspect a class and roll with the Spin Class button.
Before rerolling a class you want to keep, check the menu's current-class and slot options. Do not spend Gems assuming that another spin will preserve your existing class.
